Panning

Panning is a tecnique where a photographer horizontally follows a moving object. A moving object appears clear while the background appers to be blured vith a sence of motion. How do you achive this? Usually for a moving object a fast shutter speed is needed to freeze the object in motion, but then you freze the background as well.  I do not shoot pannig so often but for now I use this sort of settings.

I turn my camera to S-shutter priority. Depends on light and color of a vehicle I set the exposure compensation (EV +/-).  Shutter speed should be arround 1/15 or about 1/20 of a second. I say one should experiment :). Then I select AF C autofocus continious for moving objects. I use multiple shots setting, because multiple tries brings succes.

Now I focus on a moving object (shutter button half pressed) and follow it with my camera. You have to move your camera along with the movement of the moving object. When you are happy with the copmosition press the shutter an the camera will take the shots. Don't forget to follow the object with your camera, so you get a blur with a lines that make the sense of movement.
